What the lab simulation is built to test
This note is about the lab. DeFiConnect's consulting practice is a different offer, described separately. The lab is a simulation of a lowest-bid payments marketplace. The paragraphs below are our own account of that design. The lab is not a product launch.
The question
When a payment needs a processor, who should receive the right to process it, and how should that right be priced? In the usual arrangement the right sits inside a relationship. The price is difficult to compare, because it is folded into spreads, correspondent chains, and corridor deals. The lab asks a narrower question: if providers can offer a price on an intent, does a lowest-offer rule produce a match you can inspect?
Access to liquidity and to price competition is the thesis. The simulation does not claim the thesis has changed any market. It exists so the mechanism can be looked at with test data.
What the demo runs
A builder queues a payment intent: an amount, a corridor, and the fields that corridor requires. A provider can bid on that intent, or leave a standing offer for a corridor. The simulation selects the lowest offer, then walks the match through a sequence of states, including an entry on a fee ledger. Those states are labels on test data.
The demo is public, and every screen says it is a simulation. No real money moves. There is no production rail connectivity. A provider in the demo is a role in the software.
A fee on its own leg
Inside the simulation the platform records a fee of about five basis points of the notional, on its own leg. That figure is a parameter of the demo. It is not a live price. A simulated fee is not revenue.
The design keeps that fee apart from principal. In the version under test, the party that queued the intent would pay the winning provider directly, and would pay the platform separately for the match. The platform would not take, hold, or forward principal. The demo does not make either payment. It only shows the states. That separation is a constraint on the lab. It is not a conclusion that any regulator has accepted the model. Real money stays closed until outside counsel has reviewed it.
What this note is not
We are not asking banks, processors, or liquidity desks to join, bid, or pilot. We are not naming partners, and we are not reporting volume. A match in the demo is not savings, and it is not transmission.
If you need an operator inside a licensed payments business, start with a consulting inquiry. Scope is confirmed in writing before work begins. If you want to see the mechanism, the lab is the other door.
